Sink Hole - Oman

Another part of the Friday road trip was a stop at the Sink Hole. While traveling along the highway - all you see are mountains on your left, flat desert type landscape and sand beaches on the right. Out of the clear blue, ahead is an area cordoned off with a fence, there are trees, sitting areas, a few small buildings. It is the spot of a huge sink hole. The sink hole is surrounded by a cement/rock wall with an opening on the far side. Looking over the cement wall, an amazing site - a huge, deep hole in the ground. 75 stairs leading down to the bottom, allow you to take it in at ground level, kind of. The water is over 50 feet deep. Chad, the brave one, swam across the water to the other side where a rope is tethered into the rock, allowing a brave soul to climb up on the ledge and dive into the water.

Dick marveled and pondered how he could get a pond this big in our yard at home...
